THE CHEMISTRY
Lavender is rich in aromatic molecules called esters, which are antispasmodic, pacifying and tonic, while other molecules give it its antiviral, bacterial, and anti-inflammatory powers.
HERSTORY
Lavender is in the same botanic family as rosemary, and has a similar herbal, piney flavor. Native to the Mediterranean region, lavender has been cultivated since antiquity. The ancient Greeks called the Lavender herb nardus, after the Syriaan city of Naarda (possibly the modern town of Dhuk, Iraq).
DID YOU KNOW?
Dried lavender flowers and lavender essential oil are also used as a prevention against clothing moths, which do not like their scent.
